Key Highlights

  • Hong Kong tops the chart with a litre of unleaded petrol priced at $2.50.

  • Most expensive city of 2021, Tel Aviv had the fourth highest petrol price in 2021.

  • This study was released by the Economist Intelligence Unit in their Worldwide Cost of Living 2021 index.

As the prices of petrol touched the Rs. 113 mark in Mumbai in October 2021, the nation went through an almost panic situation. But state and central governments joined hands to slightly reduce the burden by reducing state taxes but the fuel prices didn’t reduce much. This still makes Indians feel that probably we are shelling out our fortune by running petrol cars. That’s wrong. A recent study published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) showed the ten cities in the world where petrol is the most expensive and India is thankfully not in the top 10.

This survey by the EIU was conducted between August 16 and September 12, 2021, at the time when the cost of a litre of unleaded petrol soared by almost 21{92b8314a80b58944ba0df9bff999fd6692ae6ba618bc5950ca8fb5ab90484bed}. Let’s check out the ten most expensive cities for petrol in the world, as published in the Worldwide Cost of Living index 2021.
